$85 – $150/day
Important Note on Multi-Mic Setups: If you are renting 4 or more wireless microphones, you must also rent an Antenna Distribution System ($100-$200/day). Without it, the antennas will interfere with each other and cause audio dropouts.

Handheld vs. Lavalier vs. Headset

Not sure which microphone style your speakers need? Here is how to decide based on the presentation format.

Handheld Mics

Easiest to use · best feedback rejection
  • Requires the speaker to hold it (cannot use hands to gesture freely)
  • Excellent sound quality because it's held close to the mouth
  • Very resistant to feedback (speaker squeal)
  • Best for: Q&A sessions in the audience, wedding toasts, MCs, and multi-speaker passing.

Lavalier (Lapel) Mics

Discreet · hands-free presenting
  • Clips to clothing; completely hands-free
  • More prone to feedback because it is further from the mouth
  • Can pick up clothing rustle or jewelry noise
  • Best for: Panel discussions, seated interviews, and video recordings.

RF Guide: How Many Mics Are You Using?

Using one wireless mic is easy. Using ten in the same room is complex physics. Phoenix airspace is crowded with TV channels and 5G—here is how we ensure your audio never drops out.

1–2

Small scale · simple setup

1 or 2 wireless mics can usually operate using standard "whip" antennas attached directly to the receivers. Setup is basically plug-and-play. Standard RF or Pro RF tiers both work perfectly here.

3–6

Panel discussions · RF coordination needed

Once you cross 4 wireless microphones, the antennas begin to cause intermodulation distortion (they fight each other). We require renting an Antenna Distribution Unit (Distro) to combine the signals into two clean antennas. Pro Digital RF (Shure QLX-D) is highly recommended.

8+

General Sessions · Broadcast quality

Large panels, theatrical shows, or massive general sessions. This requires networked Shure ULX-D/Axient receivers, directional active paddle antennas, and a dedicated Audio Engineer using software (like Shure Wireless Workbench) to scan the venue and lock down clean frequencies.

Audio Rentals for Corporate, Weddings & Activations

We rent individual mics to DIY planners, and we deliver massive audio rigs to agency producers. Here's how we typically build.

Panel Discussions

4 to 6 wireless lavaliers (lapels) mixed by an A1 engineer. Panelists need hands-free mics, and the engineer actively rides the faders so only the person currently speaking is "live." Need a riser for your panel? Pair this with our stage rentals.

Corporate event production →

Executive Keynotes

When the CEO takes the stage, we mandate a premium Countryman Headset mic and a Pro Digital Shure pack. The mic stays a fixed inch from their mouth, guaranteeing massive, clear, authoritative sound to match your LED video wall backdrop.

General session production →

Audience Q&A

We deploy standard or pro wireless handhelds with "runners" in the aisles. Sometimes we even deploy throwable foam Catchbox mics to keep the energy high and interactive during general sessions.

Live event production →

Weddings & Toasts

A simple standard wireless handheld mic on a straight stand for the officiant, easily passed to the Best Man or Maid of Honor for dinner toasts. Easily picked up in-store for a low DIY rental rate.

Hybrid & Virtual Streams

Digital wireless audio is essential for streaming. Cheap analog mics have a "hiss" floor that sounds terrible on a Zoom or stream feed. Our Shure QLX-D systems deliver perfectly clean digital audio directly to the capture card.

Hybrid & virtual events →

Breakout Rooms

A simple podium gooseneck mic or a single wireless lavalier per room, tied into a small analog mixer, two speakers, and one of our standard projectors. Cost-effective and highly reliable for multi-room conference days.

Why "Dropouts" Happen (And How We Stop Them)

If you've ever been to an event where the mic randomly cuts out or bursts with static, you've experienced RF failure. Here's why pro audio costs more, and why it's worth it.

  • Crowded Airspace: Wireless mics share the same radio frequencies as local TV stations. In Phoenix, airspace is very crowded. Cheap mics operate on fixed frequencies and will clash with TV channels. Our Shure gear scans for clean, empty frequencies.
  • Digital Encryption: Pro tier (QLX-D / ULX-D) translates your audio into 1s and 0s. You either have crystal clear audio, or nothing. Analog mics get fuzzy, static, and "hiss" as the signal drops.
  • Line of Sight: A wireless mic must "see" its receiver. If you put 10 receivers in an AV rack backstage behind a solid concrete wall, the signal will die. We deploy directional "paddle" antennas high up on stands to ensure perfect line-of-sight to the stage.
  • Battery Management: Dead AA batteries ruin speeches. Our pro-tier rentals utilize Shure lithium-ion smart batteries that display the exact remaining run-time down to the minute on the receiver.

Wireless Microphone Rental FAQ

The questions we get most often when clients are planning their AV and audio rentals in Phoenix.

Standard wireless handheld mics rent for $55–$75 per day. Pro-tier digital wireless (like Shure QLX-D or ULX-D) runs $100–$125 per day. Lavaliers and headsets run slightly higher due to the fragile nature of the mic elements. Antenna distribution kits for multi-mic setups are quoted separately. These are gear-only pick-up rates. Delivery, setup, and mixing are additional.
A lavalier (or lapel) mic clips to the speaker's shirt or tie. It's less visible but further from the mouth, making it more prone to feedback (squealing) in echoey rooms. A headset (or earset) mic hooks over the ear and places the mic element right next to the mouth, providing much clearer, louder audio with almost zero risk of feedback. For major keynotes, headsets are always recommended.
If you are renting 1 to 3 wireless mics, they can operate using their own attached "whip" antennas. If you need 4 or more wireless mics in the same room, the antennas begin to interfere with each other, causing dropouts and static. An antenna distribution system (distro) combining them into two large 'paddle' antennas is required to keep the RF signal clean and stable.
Yes, all our wireless microphone rentals include fresh batteries for your event. For our pro-tier digital Shure systems, we utilize intelligent lithium-ion rechargeable battery packs that show exactly how many hours and minutes of life remain on the receiver screen, completely eliminating battery anxiety.
Yes! A wireless microphone is just an input device. It must plug into a mixer, which then plugs into speakers to actually make sound. If your venue already has an in-house AV system, we will provide the correct output cable to plug the receiver into their wall panel. If you don't have speakers, we also offer full AV packages including Projectors, LED Video Walls, and Stage Rentals to complete your setup.
Yes — in-store pickup is welcomed for small audio rentals at our Phoenix location. Pickup keeps your event cost as low as possible since you handle setup and return yourself. When renting massive multi-channel RF rigs, delivery is generally required to ensure proper frequency coordination.
