Dark-Sky Resort Production

Event Production at ADERO Scottsdale Resort

ADERO Scottsdale Resort is set in the McDowell Mountains near Fountain Hills, and it's an International Dark Sky Association-certified property. That means starlight is a feature of the experience — and that's a real production constraint for the A/V. We design lighting for ADERO events that doesn't wash out the sky.

About the Venue

Events at ADERO Scottsdale

ADERO's character is its setting — mountain elevation, open desert views, and a commitment to low-light-pollution design that makes it an International Dark Sky Association-certified resort. The property is boutique in scale (smaller than nearby resort properties) with meeting and event spaces sized for intimate-to-midsize corporate programs.

Most events we work at ADERO pair a ballroom general session with outdoor evening programming that uses the dark-sky setting — dinners under unobstructed star views, lounge receptions with the McDowell backdrop. Outdoor production here has a specific design constraint: lighting that doesn't fight the dark-sky designation.

Centric isn't affiliated with ADERO Scottsdale, Marriott's Autograph Collection, or the property's ownership. We're not the in-house A/V at this property. Planners hire us directly.

How We Work

Production for a Dark Sky Resort

ADERO's dark-sky setting is a real design constraint. Traditional high-intensity intelligent lighting rigs wash out the night sky that is part of the resort's draw. Our production design starts with a lighting plan that uses warm, low-intensity, shielded fixtures — enough to illuminate the guest experience without light-polluting the horizon.

In practice, that means smaller, warmer lighting packages, table-level and ambient-only fixtures for outdoor dinners, and projection or video handled indoors where possible. When outdoor video is needed (for a reveal moment or branded content), we use right-sized LED rather than projection and keep screen brightness set for desert twilight rather than daylight.

Planner FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to what planners ask us most when scoping an event at ADERO Scottsdale Resort.

Is Centric affiliated with ADERO Scottsdale?
No. Centric is an independent Phoenix A/V company and is not affiliated with ADERO Scottsdale, Marriott's Autograph Collection, or the property's ownership. We're not the in-house A/V at this property. Planners hire us directly.
What does dark-sky-compliant lighting actually mean for an event?
It means our outdoor lighting uses warm color temperatures, shielded fixtures that direct light downward rather than skyward, and lower overall intensity than a standard intelligent rig. The guest experience is fully illuminated where it needs to be — paths, tables, stage — without the sky-glow that would compromise the resort's dark-sky designation.
Can you still produce a visually striking evening reveal here?
Yes — The constraint shapes the design rather than preventing it. LED displays with calibrated brightness, intelligent lighting aimed at the stage rather than the sky, and lighting-sensitive reveal cues all work. What doesn't work is high-intensity search-light or stadium-style lighting rigs.
What's your approach to outdoor dinners?
Warm, low table-level lighting, minimal ambient wash, discreet audio with MC mic, and battery power to reduce cable runs. The aesthetic is intentional intimacy — the guest can still see the sky, the food, and the people across the table.
How do you handle the mountain location for load-in?
ADERO's elevated mountain site means a single access road and a measured drive from central Phoenix gear positions. We plan for longer crew calls and earlier load-in windows on event day. For larger programs, we sometimes pre-position gear the day before.
Can you livestream from ADERO?
Yes — Hardline internet is available through the property's event team and we layer bonded-cellular backup. Streaming runs from a dedicated video position.
How early should we book?
ADERO's boutique scale means less production runway is needed than at a larger resort — 60 to 90 days works for standard scopes. Custom outdoor programming or dark-sky-sensitive design benefits from 3+ months.
