Conference & General Session Production

Event Production at the Phoenix Convention Center

The Phoenix Convention Center is Arizona's biggest event space — nearly a million square feet across two buildings downtown, and the default host for just about every major conference that comes to the state. We're an independent A/V crew based in Phoenix, and a lot of our conference work happens inside PCC.

About the Venue

Producing Conferences at Phoenix Convention Center

The Phoenix Convention Center spans more than 900,000 square feet across two main buildings in downtown Phoenix, with ballrooms, exhibit halls and dozens of meeting rooms. It's the default venue for the largest professional associations, trade shows and corporate events that come to Arizona — and a large share of our conference A/V bookings come from planners doing events at PCC as their event location.

Planners producing events at PCC are usually managing a general session in one of the ballrooms, a slate of breakout rooms across the meeting-room floors, and sometimes an exhibit hall activation or evening awards function. The scale of the venue is both the opportunity and the challenge — a misaligned show-flow across multiple simultaneous sessions is what most planners ask us about when they're scoping the show.

Centric is not affiliated with the Phoenix Convention Center and is not the venue's in-house audio-visual provider. Planners hire us directly as their outside production partner when they want a dedicated team handling the A/V scope separately from the venue's house services. We work to the venue's load-in rules, rigging requirements and union labor policies, and we coordinate directly with the venue's event team on behalf of our clients.

How We Work

How Centric Approaches A/V at This Scale

At a venue the size of PCC, the most important production decisions happen long before load-in. We build show-flow documents that map every session, every stage position, every audio and video signal path, and every transition cue. The goal is a production plan that any crew on any day of the event can read and execute without ambiguity.

Our equipment capability scales to PCC ballroom and hall productions: line-array audio systems, LED video walls in multiple pixel pitches, projection packages for simultaneous-interpretation or dual-screen setups, multi-camera livestream rigs, intelligent stage lighting, and the show-caller and technician crew needed to operate them. We bring our own gear and our own crew rather than rely on sub-rental.

Planner FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to what planners ask us most when scoping an event at Phoenix Convention Center.

Does Centric Events work with the Phoenix Convention Center's in-house A/V team?
We are an independent Phoenix A/V production company and are not affiliated with any in-house provider at the venue. Planners who book this venue often bring us on as their outside production partner for the show, and we coordinate with the venue's event services and labor teams on logistics — load-in, rigging permits, power drops and stagehand calls — in the same way any outside production company would.
Where do you load in at the Phoenix Convention Center?
Load-in is handled through the venue's Event Services team and typically routes through dedicated freight docks rather than public entrances. The specific dock, time window and freight-elevator routing is assigned per event based on which ballroom or hall you're in. We work with your PCC event manager to schedule load-in and load-out windows inside your contract.
Does PCC require union labor for rigging?
Yes — PCC is a union-labor facility. Rigging, some electrical work and stagehand labor are provided by venue labor. Our production team coordinates those calls, provides CAD rigging plots for review, and integrates with union stagehands on the floor so your show-flow is seamless.
Can you handle a general session and breakouts at the same time?
Yes — simultaneous-session production is the most common scope at this venue. We build a single, integrated show-flow document that covers the general session plus every breakout so the crews are coordinated, transitions are paced, and your attendees move between rooms on schedule. The number of technicians we assign scales with the number of concurrent rooms.
Can you livestream from inside the convention center?
Yes — PCC offers hardwired broadcast-class internet through venue services. We provision a redundant livestream setup — primary hardline plus bonded-cellular backup — so a network hiccup in one path doesn't take your stream offline. Encoding, graphics and stream management run from our video-world position at the side of stage.
How far ahead do we need to book A/V for a PCC event?
For a multi-day conference at PCC, 90 to 120 days is a comfortable production lead time. Shorter windows are workable for single-session programs, but anything involving multi-camera livestream, custom scenic, or complex rigging benefits from earlier engagement so CAD, rigging permits and labor calls can be coordinated with the venue without last-minute rush.
Do you handle keynote content and speaker-support logistics too?
We focus on the production technology — audio, video, staging, lighting, and show-calling — rather than speaker coaching or content creation. However, our show caller works directly with your speakers during rehearsal to nail cues, confidence-monitor layouts, and run-of-show timing so the content lands cleanly on stage.
